A Review of Caru Project ECHO Networks 2024

Caru partner, the All Ireland institute of Hospice and Palliative Care (AIIHPC) has to-date established Project ECHO Nursing Home Knowledge Networks in HSE areas CHO2, CHO3, CHO6, CHO7 and CHO9. Learning programmes for these groups are ongoing.
Following consultation with participants in the new CHO1 ECHO network, the curriculum and timetable have now been agreed. ECHO learning sessions will begin in January 2025. The CHO1 ECHO network comprises nursing homes located in Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, West Cavan, and Monaghan.
Online information sessions have been held for nursing homes in CHO5 (South Tipperary, Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford) and CHO8 (Laois, Offaly, Longford, Westmeath, Louth, Meath). To-date, 97 staff from 19 nursing homes in CHO5 have joined their local network. In CHO8, 105 staff from 22 nursing homes have registered to participate. The timetable and curriculum for both networks is currently being developed. Project ECHO learning sessions will begin in the first quarter of 2025.
The final Caru ECHO network will be established in HSE area CHO4 (Kerry, Cork) in early 2025.
New applications to join all Caru ECHO Networks will be accepted from nursing homes throughout the duration of the Caru Programme.
