More than 100 Caru Workshops Completed in 2024!
The Caru team delivered 111 Caru Workshops, both in-person and online in 2024. In CHO3 North Tipperary, the five Caru Groups that participated from Dean Maxwell CNU Roscrea, Hospital of Assumption Thurles, Nenagh Manor Nursing Home, Ashlawn Nursing Home, Nenagh, and Rivervale Nursing Home, demonstrated huge dedication to the learning of Caru, which was very inspiring and a true testament to staffs’ commitment to palliative, end-of-life and bereavement care in their nursing homes. They all completed their Workshops on the 5th of November.
On November 12th, round five of the Caru Quality Improvement Workshops concluded in CHO5 with great success. Hosted by Dungarvan Community Hospital, the Workshop was fully enrolled and had enthusiastic participation from Caru Leads, who provided glowing evaluations of the program. Participants appreciated the engaging educational elements, which continue to enhance the Caru experience.
We saw CHO9 welcome sixteen new nursing homes to the programme, while CHO6 boasted a very successful series of Workshops from Sept – Dec with thirty-nine attendees from eleven nursing homes taking part. These sessions were highly interactive and lively, with a wealth of new knowledge being shared among everyone.
Caru Groups in CHO2 completed training in Claremorris, Co Mayo, with six nursing homes from the region taking part. The group were a diverse mix of staff nurses and HCAs and really proved their motivation for improving end-of-life, palliative, and bereavement care in their organisations. We look forward to hearing their progress in the new year!
Another Group from CHO8 completed Workshop 4 in Navan, making for a total of thirty-four nursing homes that have completed the series of Caru Workshops so far.
In CHO4, the current Caru Workshops are taking place in North Ridge House in Cork City, with seven nursing homes represented. Staff from Bandon Community Hospital, Ballincurrig Care Centre, Beaumont Residential Care, Care Choice Clonakilty, Curam Care Carrigaline, Haven Bay Kinsale and Windmill House Care Centre Churchtown have been diligently attending the first three Workshops with the culmination of their journey taking place at Workshop 4 in early January 2025.
We want to say a heartfelt “Well Done!” to all the participants who took part or are currently taking part in the Caru Programme. You are absolutely amazing!
Recruitment is now underway for the 2025 Caru Quality Improvement Workshops. It is mandatory that participants attend all four Workshops in the series in order to be trained fully as Caru Leads.
This is a fantastic opportunity for interested staff to enhance their skills, engage with the Caru Programme, and contribute to advancing quality improvement in care settings. Don’t miss out on the chance to be part of this inspiring initiative!
