Welcome to the team to all our new Caru Leads!

We are thrilled to welcome the new Caru Leads to the family! Leads in CHO2 have officially completed the four Caru QI Workshops in Ballina, Co Mayo and Loughrea, Co Galway, with staff from six nursing homes from both areas in attendance. In total, thirty-nine participants have become trained Caru Leads for their organisation. We are excited to see what new initiatives will be undertaken at each of the nursing homes.

In CHO3, staff from six nursing homes, and a further two from CHO4, have completed all four Workshops. Six nursing homes from West Cork went through their journey over the last six months, coming together in Skibbereen Residential Cares training facilities, while their colleagues based in the Cork City area made the trip to North Ridge House Education and Research Centre for their Caru Workshops over the first half of 2024; well-done to Castletownbere Community Hospital, Fairfield Nursing Home, Skibbereen Community Hospital, Dunmanway Community Hospital, Aperee Living Bantry and Aperee Conna, Skibbereen Residential Care, Darraglynn Nursing Home, Farranlea CNU, Heather House, Brookefield Nursing Home, Kinsale Community Hospital and Carechoice Ballynoe.

While we are so happy for our new Caru colleagues, we are also thrilled that so many nursing homes across the country are still participating. In Swords, Dublin, we had eight new nursing homes join Caru Workshops as well as welcoming back two returning nursing homes training additional staff. Fifty staff took part in these two rounds; 44% were from nursing/nursing management, 40% HCA, and 16% all remaining disciplines (including activities, admin, and household).

Workshops in CHO1 recommenced in March 2024 in Donegal with eight further nursing homes now in the Caru Programme. The programme in CHO7 is completed for the summer reaching sixteen nursing homes within this catchment area. There was great potential for quality improvements identified at each workshop, and we look forward to seeing these ideas come to fruition.

Upcoming Workshops - Save the Date!

Recruitment for all workshops is ongoing, and we encourage all interested staff to get involved and take advantage of this opportunity for professional growth and development.
