Caru Attend G.P. Community Medical Education Meetings In CHO5
Janet Tobin-Martin, Regional Lead, CHO5 was delighted to be invited to attend two G.P. Community Medical Education meetings hosted by chairperson Dr. Mark Walsh from Northgate Medical Centre, New Ross, Co Wexford.
G.P.’s were given an overview of the Caru Programme, as well as IHF Healthcare Programmes including information on resources available and the Bereavement Support Helpline. They found these to be useful tools for their consultations with patients.
Both evenings were attended by locally based G.P.s in the CHO5 region. Those in attendance expressed interest and enthusiasm for the aims and objectives of the Caru programme. All recognised the benefits of the programme and how it will support the nursing home staff in their delivery of palliative, end-of-life, and bereavement care in the nursing home setting.
Both events generated some very interesting and thought-provoking conversations on culture in healthcare.
Some attendees shared their own lived experiences in relation to the emotional difficulties in supporting patients in bereavement and loss.
If you are located in CHO5 and would like to speak to someone about registering your nursing home for the free Caru Programme, please contact Regional Lead, Janet Tobin-Martin.
